With the CEO himself at the steering wheel, the first picture of the Xiaomi electric car has gone public

The famous Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has been trying to launch their electric car in the market for a long time. Last year, it was reported by the company that it will come to the market in 2024. However, nothing is known about the exact launch date of the car. However, this time the first photo of Xiaomi's upcoming electric car called Modena has been leaked. The company's CEO Lei Jun was seen at the steering wheel. The car is being tested in the bone-chilling cold on massive snow. The performance of the vehicle and battery is being tested by conducting trials in sub-freezing temperatures.

An image uploaded by Car News China shows it to be an electric sedan car. It has a long bonnet and sloped roofline. It is claimed to have a LiDAR sensor. Speculations are rife that Xiaomi will launch its first car in three different models. The trial is underway in the small East Asian country of Mongolia. It is the coldest region in China. Therefore, Mongolia was chosen as the testing ground.

One of the two models could be powered by Build Your Dreams or BYD's Blade battery. China's BYD has emerged as one of the world's largest electric car manufacturers. Another company, CATL, is rumored to offer its Kilin battery to the Xiaomi EV. It will charge from 0-80% in just 15 minutes. Inside the infotainment system is a Qualcomm 8295 chip present in the car.

It should be noted that in September 2021, Xiaomi announced an investment of 1.5 billion dollars or about 12,146 thousand crore rupees for the production of electric vehicles. However, the production of their EVs has been slightly delayed due to problems in obtaining clearances. Xiaomi's first electric car may be officially launched in the first half of next year.

Speculations are rife that Xiaomi's Modena could be priced between Rs 31.20 lakh and Rs 42.01 lakh in Indian currency. The company has set a sales target of more than one crore units of this vehicle annually. Besides the Modena, they are also rumored to be working on another EV called the Lemans. It may hit the market in 2025.
