Flipkart launched its own UPI handle, no need for PhonePe

Flipkart UPI: The range of services was already expanding, but yesterday Flipkart added another dimension to its identity. Originally popular across the country as an online shopping platform, in recent years the company has been offering everything from flight booking, mobile recharge, bill payment to personal loans. 

But yesterday on March 3rd, to top it all off they launched their own online payment handle called 'Flipkart UPI'. Flipkart said that this step is mainly to provide better services to its customer base of over 50 crores. In this case, using the Flipkart UPI option, users will be able to set their own UPI handle for online-offline merchant transactions, in exchange the company will also provide some lucrative benefits like Supercoins, cashback, brand vouchers.

New update of Flipkart UPI has arrived on the app

Recently an official update of Flipkart app is available, after downloading and installing a banner titled 'Flipkart UPI' is observed on the main screen of the app. Apart from this, there is a 'Scan & Pay' (Scan & Pay) tab next to other sections in the app and there is an opportunity to use the company's own UPI payment option while placing an order. Through this app users can also recharge and bill payments.

In the initial phase, Flipkart launched this UPI service hand in hand with their partner bank i.e. Axis Bank. This will allow app users to register UPI using the @fkaxis handle for their digital transactions. This will make money payment easier and also reduce the dependency on third party online payment apps like PhonePe, Google Pay.

How to use Flipkart UPI?

Those interested can go to the banner or category section provided in the app and link their bank account from 'My UPI' to make the desired transaction. Besides, traditional scan payment facility can be used with 'Scan and Pay' option.

Using Flipkart UPI will also get rewards

Dhiraj Aneja, Senior Vice President, FinTech & Payments Group, Flipkart, said that Flipkart UPI option is being introduced keeping in mind the expectations of the customers. In this case they are also making available SuperCoins, Brand Vouchers and other reward options. Incidentally, if users pay using the Scan option of Flipkart UPI, they will get 10 SuperCoins in the first five transactions (minimum Rs. 100), 10 SuperCoins will be available even if the bank account is linked.
