Xiaomi's big surprise is bringing a blockbuster smartphone with a new camera
Xiaomi is expected to launch the Xiaomi 15 series smartphone in China next October. Although the launch is still a few months away, information about the Xiaomi 15 lineup is already slowly coming to light through various sources and online reports. Now, as reported courtesy of a reliable tipster, the Xiaomi 15 Pro will offer a major upgrade in the optical zoom department.
Let's get to know this in detail.
The Xiaomi 15 Pro phone may have a new Periscope telephoto camera
According to tipster Digital Chat Station, Xiaomi is switching to a periscope telephoto lens with an IMX8 series sensor for the upcoming flagship. The engineering prototype of the Xiaomi 15 Pro phone will offer 5x optical zoom. He also added that it will support the latest super-resolution algorithms.
Note that the Xiaomi 14 Pro does not have a periscope telephoto camera. It has a 50-megapixel Samsung S5 KJN1 telephoto camera, which offers 3.2x optical zoom. Hence, the Xiaomi 15 Pro is expected to offer significantly better zoom capabilities.
Earlier, the tipster revealed that the Xiaomi 15 Pro handset will have a 50-megapixel primary camera. It could potentially offer a 50-megapixel OV50K OmniVision primary camera.
Although, the previous model supported variable aperture for its primary camera, it is believed that Xiaomi 15 Pro will not support it. Details of the ultra-wide camera of this handset are yet to come out. It will likely offer a 50-megapixel ultrawide lens like the Xiaomi 15 Pro phone.
According to other reports, the Xiaomi 15 Pro phone will feature a 6.73-inch micro-curved OLED panel, which will offer 2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor, the smartphone will come with a 5,400mAh battery with 120W fast charging.
